The Regional Hospital in Halmstad is part of the national GMS-Mikro initiative, working to implement microbial sequencing in routine diagnostics. For smaller laboratories, important challenges include maintaining cost-effectiveness while keeping workflows simple and practical.
To address these challenges, Halmstad has chosen to automate library preparation using the Myra liquid handling system. This approach helps streamline the workflow and makes it feasible to integrate sequencing into a setting where biomedical scientists manage multiple laboratory methods in parallel with limited time available.
👨🔬 Speaker spotlight: Lars-Ola Arvidsson
Lars-Ola Arvidsson is Head of the Human Genetics Division within the Department of Clinical Chemistry at the Regional Hospital in Halmstad. In addition to his work in human genetics, he also holds key assignments within the Clinical Microbiology Department, where he is involved in the development and implementation of sequencing-based methods.
