Flexible Beluga sample preparation
Beluga combines magnetic-rod extraction with precise liquid handling on one automated platform. Built-in barcode scanning maintains sample identity, while the standalone onboard software guides operators through setup, processing and eluate handling without requiring an external computer.
Primary samples can be loaded directly, reducing manual transfers and relabelling. Supported formats include K₂ EDTA blood tubes, plasma and VTM tubes, cfDNA Streck tubes, 15 mL centrifuge tubes, FFPE lysates and 96-well plates. Compatibility depends on the selected workflow.
Beluga for WES
For Whole Exome Sequencing workflows, Beluga automates barcode scanning, magnetic bead-based DNA extraction and direct elution into 2D-barcoded tubes. It processes 1–32 samples and is positioned directly upstream of library preparation.
Applications include clinical germline sequencing, rare-disease genomics, oncology sequencing and reproductive genomics.
Beluga for NAT
For nucleic acid testing, Beluga automates pre-PCR sample preparation from primary tube to PCR-ready output. It supports blood-bank, transfusion-medicine and molecular-testing workflows, including respiratory, gastrointestinal and blood-screening applications.
